Worldview vs Reality and hate

Debates

We all have a worldview; we look around us and see things as they make sense to us. But are we able and willing to acknowledge that we could be wrong about how we view things or people?

Political, racial, and national factors, among other things, can cause us to set aside rational thinking for emotional responses. For example, if you hate someone with a passion, would you be able to tell the difference between the truth about that one, or will you automatically accept every bad thing said about them, true or not, because you hate them? If you are willing to do that, how much of your views are based on lies, misinformation, because of your hate, you don’t care about the truth?

When we see people acting out because of rage and hate, they may feel empowered to act very destructively because they are filled with hate and rage. They may attack or destroy things because their emotions have them worked up, and if we see ourselves justifying acting out like that, or thinking we could do it towards someone or something, shouldn’t that be a red flag for us? We are on the verge of doing something irrational that a rational person would not do.

#1 " But are we able and willing to acknowledge that we could be wrong about how we view things or people?"

I view Trump as a Peacemaker, a man who wants peace. I believe that he is the ONLY person on earth that can bring global peace. Further, I believe that some people, some on this Forum, VIEW this person differently. In a way totally different than my view.

#2." Political, racial, and national factors, among other things, can cause us to set aside rational thinking for emotional responses. Mother Theresa herself was prob uncomfortable around a few people, like a 'certain' poster here is uncomfortable with Trump. You are correct, people like this would want to throw out a tub of bathwater, with a baby still in the tub. Some wish that they could throw Trump out, and not give a damn about his
importance,,,like the value of the baby.

#3. The third paragraph speaks for itself. Hate and Rage just eats up some people, who do not see that which they actually SHOULD see/view, right before their eyes. They would do well to educate themselves and be informed.

A very nice post. Quite refreshing.

Most of the "hate and rage" is in the person of Donald Trump. And therefore, his sycophants on the right, including these two posters.

He's not done destroying people's lives in this country because they don't agree with him, and the right should take a step back before committing themselves to building a new Gestapo to battle "people and things Trump hates."

Travel far enough down that road, and we won't be able to claw our way back anytime soon, and possibly not until after the next world war. Hitler was a cautionary tale, not a blueprint for the future.

If you can leave him out of the topic do you think hate blinds?

Not at all.

It magnifies internal judgments a person develops against society.

The very best thing I can say about hate is that it focuses one's mind to a needle-sharp point. Depending on the person that affects, it could be good or bad, but as history has shown, it's usually bad.

You don’t believe it can setup someone to believe every bad thing said about the one hated?

Interesting that you don't mind AJ talking about Trump first.

Funny how you say "the one hated", and not "the one who hates".

But we see why that is.

You do realize we're talking about someone hating the person who has carte blanche to react hatefully to those he hates, right?

Not so blind then, is it?

Is it ok in your worldview to dislike a specific policy without hating the person who implemented it?

I've used the example of medical research before, because I think it's important. I hate the fact that the current administration sees so little value in it that they have cut 40% of it's budget without debate or opportunity to debate. It's just gone.

I hate that idea, not the people who did it.

Not sure why you think it’s funny, my concern is not about the one who is hated, they can be oblivious of another’s feelings.

My concern is about the one who hates, do not look for a specific person, this not about a specific person.

I am concern (wondering) if you (the group here) think hate can blind us making us eager to have another reason to dislike someone. Instead always give another the benefit of doubt?

Was not eager to see his name but as soon more brought him up I didn’t want this to be another Trump post.

Nope.

You're not sugar-coating this.

Trump is ruining America because he hates Americans.

His father taught him to hate, and he's carrying on the tradition well.

I told you several times now, he is the one who hates Americans or he wouldn't be doing these things, but all you wanna do is give him a pass.

We're way beyond the point where this is okay.

And he is not the topic in this discussion.
