If I wrote a fantasy here about my exploits with a 10 year old, what do think I would be?
To be honest its not a discussion I want to get involved with, so this is my last post in the thread.

If you are talking about an adult and a 10 y/o then obviously it would be out of order but if the two are roughly the same age then I see no problem as I would have to put myself in your category

I honestly think that an 18+ clan would be great, but I'm not sure if that should be a hiding place for potential paedos and potential rapists.

But I don't know what you just said.

Originally posted by RagnorakFirst of all, I didn't say I fantasise about sex with children (although I wouldn't be ashamed if that were the case). I did say I have rape fantasies from time to time. Here's the exact phrase:
...does fantasising about paedophilic acts make you a paedophile, or close to it, or normal?
"That I've fantasised about rape, doesn't make me a rapist. If I were to fantasise about having sex with a 14-year old girl, that in itself wouldn't make me a pedophile."
The link that went with my post was to an article written by a psychologist who claimed that studies have shown that there are a whole lot of people fantasising about rape. Some of them fantasise about being raped, and some about being the rapist. None of them were rapist or victims of rape, and all of them psychologically and emotionally considered healthy (no, they didn't question patients in that survey as far as I know). In fact, none of them wanted those fantasies realised in real life simply because of the enormous consequences involved.
So, the thread was not about me fantasising about this or that, but about the concept of fantasies as such. How fantasies have absolutely no relevance to your real behaviour (or you have a serious mental or emotional problem and should seek help).
For instance, most of us can easily agree that we've had fantasies about strangling someone. We've all had people around us whom we consider so thick that we honestly and sincerely wanted to strangle them at one time or another. But are we murderers because of it? No! If we are mentally and emotionally healthy, we can easily hold back from such behaviour. It takes years of abuse or being pushed before we even consider such fantasies for real. However, if we have such fantasies but suppress them (for whatever reason, maybe 'cause we're afraid of conflict), we can be surprised at how strong those feelings are when the opportunity and our anger meet, making it impossible to control ourselves. Same thing with sexual fantasies. Having them (for whatever reason) is not in itself something dangerous or wrong. Acting on them is wrong, simply because some other individual will be seriously damaged for a long, long time afterwards.
This is what separates the human animal (or so we think) from the rest of the animal kingdom. Our ability of abstract thought and how easy we can imagine ourself in someone else's situation. Leading us to the superior social behaviour that will not allow us to commit such acts in real life.
(Well, those of us whom are psychologically and emotionally healthy that is. Talking about it can also help those who for some reason are having a problem separate fantasy and real life.)
Do you understand the concept now, or do I need to draw you pictures?
Originally posted by RagnorakPerhaps because you yourself are having trouble separate some fantasies (thoughts) from reality, and therefore assume that if a person has fantasies about rape or other harmful sex you think they have the same problem with separation you have?

I honestly never wanted to strangle someone, are you sure it's as common as you seem to suggest?
