I think people are still in the early 21st century time where in their minds it is still just late 20th century, just like it was in the US in say, 1910, those years were just left over 19th with cars and electricity. So in their minds they think 2000, wow, we are SO far in the future now. I think this will go on for a few more years till they mentally catch up with the idea we are in 20 something instead of wow, 2000 and 12 kind of thing. I started out calling it 20 01 right away.

I look at 2012 and it doesn't really look like a date the way the 19xx numbers do. I guess my head must still be stuck in the 20th century. 🙁
