I used to think that season one was as good as it gets, and it probably is - but season two was probably the best of all the seasons at portraying the Presidency, and it's also the darkest of all four, with the most Byzantine layers of conspiracy (season three had them, too, but it connected them much less effectively and convincingly). There is one glaring ...[text shortened]... bout terrorists, ironically...as you know, stripped bare, it's basically a revenge tragedy.
Or is she the annoyance?
I thought she did all right in season 1, a bit too good looking all the time, and calm to be really realistic, but none the less adequate.
Originally posted by Silver SlayerShe's very good in season one, and in season two she's actually not bad, but she's only occasionally integrated into the plot (in season one she was the plot), which slows the main storyline down at times. The writers struggled to keep her relevant and at one point (she meets the most cowardly mountain lion in the history of TV) plumb the depths a little bit. Don't let the cynics put you off, though, season two as a whole is terrific stuff, and it features the best cast of primary and secondary characters you're likely to see.

Does the traitor women from series 1 appear in series 2?, or is she stuck in jail?
Originally posted by Silver SlayerYes, Nina Myers reappears for about six episodes after being temporarily released from a federal penitentiary for her crimes against the state, which is also arguably the best story arc in the season...her scenes are tremendous and include one CTU interview scene which is worth the entrance alone. Although, having said that, there's at least one another interrogation scene which is far more brutal - you'll never hear the apparently innocuous phrase "I'm gonna need a hacksaw" again without remembering that season.
Ok!

Originally posted by AmauroteSounds good!, As I watched season 1, I thought she was a dodgy actor because she always looked slight odd, funny way of talking, expressions etc. When it was revealed that she was the mole it all made sense!!

Originally posted by Silver SlayerYes indeed, and of course whenever Kiefer Sutherland said "Some of my own people may be working against me" in the weekly reprise, the shot always cut to Nina Myers looking particularly suspicious on the telephone. All the actors were told that they might be the mole, though, and apparently they didn't tell Sarah Clarke until about eight episodes from the end - up until then the hot money was on either Xander Berkeley or Carlos Bernard.

Originally posted by AmauroteYeh, I was surprised by the physical hate I felt for some of the characters..like the guy with the goatee until he turned out to be good, and the senators wife... she was really hateable!!

Did you find this?!
Originally posted by Silver SlayerYes, although to be honest the only characters I really hated in season one were Alberta Green (great performance, though) and Viktor Drazen, who is basically a monster with no redeeming features. I think you'll really like seasons two and three, most of these characters reappear not once but twice - I couldn't really recommend season 4, though, it was basically one long siege with very little nuance or dialogue.

Originally posted by AmauroteYes, I agree. I forgot Alberta Green..I've never seen her in anything else so I have nothing to compare her acting with. I think it was the hair, and the burecratic manner that anoyed me most!

Originally posted by AmauroteI'll check it out! I didn't think the assasin from Series 1 was very professional... letting the girl under his gaurd!!

Plus the girl who blows up a plane full of people then lets herself be pushed round by that guy and then lets the other girl manipulate her boss (the guy) knowing the consequences... Weired!
Follow me!?!
Originally posted by Silver SlayerAbsolutely, although Andre Drazen does tell us that his father had predicted that women would be the death of him.

You'll be seeing Mandy ( the 747 bomber) again - she's another recurring villain. She's more of a ruthless freelance saboteur/demolition agent, though, it's part of her job description to be ordered around by people like Ira Gaines, and her girlfriend lasts about thirty minutes once she departs from the script.
Originally posted by Amaurotewhat did you think of the ending to series 1?, I'm glad Jacks wife ended up dieing because if she had lived there would be the child problem, plus the ending would have been cheap holly wood style... miraculously everyone turns out fine in the end apart from the bad guys!

Originally posted by Silver SlayerI thought it was the best finale yet: season two's is slightly ambiguous, season three's was great, and season four's was nicely executed even if the season itself was weak.

There was an interview in the tabloids with Kiefer Sutherland this week in which he admitted that he had actually argued with the writers about it, and had wanted to keep Teri Bauer alive for season two - but he now admits to being totally wrong, because of course the final episode with her death is probably the best single episode of any drama show on television in the last decade. If you really want to know what 24 is about, you just zip forward to the final ten minutes of the first season, from the point when Nina Myers says "Everything will be fine" through her killing spree to the final confrontation with Jack. I never tire of watching it.
Originally posted by AmauroteTowards the end she kept on getting stmarch oains. Was that due to the terroist guy? Did he get her pregnant, or was it really Jacks baby?

I got the impression it was the terroists, but I'm not sure how fast these things work!!!
