That chess would be more popular if it was easier, is that what the majority of chess players think!!! I think the major reason that it retains the popularity that it possess is precisely because of its un-easiness, thoughts?

i agree entirely. my wife likes card games that are 90 % luck of the draw and 10% skill. chess is almost a new game after each move. as in war the first casualty is usually the plan.

Chess is a very simple game. It can be explained to someone in a matter of minutes. The complexity is in the astronomical number of possible games, and the lenghts that great players have taken strategy to. People can play it with whatever degree of complexity they are capable of.
