Why don't you begin by asking people (and this necessitates listening to them) if they think the message is abusive, you know, in lieu of actually understanding the entire message? Or is this nebulous "abusiveness" only in the eye of the beholder, who may have an entirely different reason for calling it "abusive", such as a manipulative agenda?

My theory is that he is so far removed from normal human relationships that these type of things, trash talk, harmless banter on an internet forum are almost like an alien concept for him. This coupled with a kind of inverse inferiority complex where he needs to feel superior to other people by vilifying them to compensate for his own insecurities leads him to attribute all kinds of absurdities to other people.

I have taken my first chess pupil on. A man in his seventies from San Fransisco. He wants to reach 1400-1600, a class c player and I promised to help him, free of charge. Presently he is rated 1100. I think we can do it.
