-Removed-Well, I was singing along quite merrily... like one does.
And, well, to be honest... if Paul and Art were dead they would be turning in their graves at the quality of my voice. Basically, I can't hold a tune to save my life... and Bridge over Troubled Water isn't an easy choice to screetch along to.
So, I'm nearing the crescendo and the traffic light is red. So, obviously I stop the car. I didn't stop the wailing though. And lots of people were staring at me.
This did nothing positive for my confidence and the already barbaric slaughtering of the song just got worse, really.
All I can say in my defence is that one of my exes thought I was a great singer. She was deaf though.
@shavixmir saidI would far rather hear someone screech on, being happy in their own skin, than hear some Karen yelling at some poor Hispanic girl to "speak English!" when she's just talking to her friends.

Bad singers > self-righteous snobs.
@shavixmir saidI recorded my own singing voice once, though I thought I sounded like Steve Perry, the recording taught me that I really sounded like an elephant seal with a bad case of indigestion. As a result, I never attempt to sing anything with the windows open in my car, or anywhere else for that matter. 😳
Do not attempt to sing along loud to Bridge over Troubled Water with the car windows open at a traffic light.
Anyone else recently learned anything the hard way?
@mchill saidI once won a karaoke competition singing Wild Thing and then Like a Rolling Stone.

Went on to the pub finals and that's where, for some reason beyond comprehension, I decided to sing White Rabbit... and seriously... there was bloody booing...
Worst was in Thailand though. This English lad and myself got up in a restaurant / karoake bar to sing Country Roads... and after the first 30 seconds they turned off the installation...
@shavixmir saidLike the first time I heard my voice recorded and didn’t believe it was actually me, turns out my singing voice, though I thought it was “fantastic” and worthy of me joining The Three Tenors I was told not to quit my day job.😢

Congratulations on Geert Wilders and his band of Dutch Trumpites in closing down the border!!
@Earl-of-Trumps saidThey haven’t.

They want to. However, seeing that refugees are something like 5% of the influx of people on a yearly basis, it’s not really going to solve the housing crisis.
So, look at Wilders and his band of trumpite cronies’ plans on housing… oh dear… very lackluster.
In other words, their hatred (mainly of Islam… which is between 5 and 6% of the population, already for 25 years or so) leads them to want to change asylum laws, to solve a problem which they haven’t correctly defined.
And that, in the long run (4 to 8 years) , will crumble their house of cards.
If it doesn’t crumble faster. The PVV (Wilders’ party) has a fascist structure, and basically only exists of people who Wilders appoints… their qualities as politicians are dubious at best. 2 of the other “leading” parties are reasonably new, one of them has no political experience at all.
It’s a hilarious cluster fack waiting to happen.
@shavixmir " it’s not really going to solve the housing crisis."
No, but it will prevent it from getting worse.
It's like watching the tub overflow. Of course, shutting the water off is called for, no?
@Earl-of-Trumps saidNo, it’s not the same, really.

At a certain point the government will have to order the building of lots of affordable housing. That’s the cause of the problem.
For the housing companies and contractors, it’s more profitable to build a few high end houses, than loads of cheaper housing.
For the councils, cheaper housing brings in a different breed of person than high end housing (and generally other sorts of problems along with it).
Stemming asylum (which as I have pointed out isn’t a large part of migration) is like turning the tap on the bath 5% off. 95% is still going to overflow. One needs a larger bath.

No, Shav.
The real cause of the housing problem is - leaving the gates open for too long.
You liberals frequently talk about "causality". Well....?
When do you connect the dots?
