A PK Speech

Those of you who know me best know I don't do the speech, lectures or soap box stuff...well, not much anyway. My most recent rant has been a well known thread about the rec count. My goal was to reinstate the rec count, but we got more recs instead. I'm certainly happy and willing to take it, it's progress, it's a stepping stone in the right direction. Again, as I mentioned in other threads, I'm appalled by the mockery many have made of this. And those of you who abused this even got a familiar name calling for the banishment of recs completely again. He is a friend of mine here so I would not say anything against him. But the goal was the opposite of this.

Those of you who supported this from the beginning, I'd shake your hand, but this is the internet. Be patient, the idiots will run out soon. And suprisingly, it's even some of the people who supported the idea that are now ruining it. Shame on you guys.

To the idiots: grow the hell up! If I were Russ, I would take a few hours and banish you fools with a big smile on my face.

Granted, the rec system is not something that can be policed, nor should it need to be. But it's like being in kindergarten, a few absolute IDIOTS ruin it for everyone else, and things you once had get taken away. That my friends, kills the forums. And you whine and complain when the forums are down.

I'm not saying don't use your recs. Use your recs, use them well, and it can be a pleasant and enjoyable experience for all. And the recommended page can be filled with good stuff. And I'm all for the occasional great insult or joke being rec'd, but not the catastrophe of what people have done these past 2 days.

Two more points:

Only you can prevent forest fires

and

wrap it every time

How do you decide if a post is reccable or not?

If a post gets a rec from 6 people does that necessarily make it a good post?
