OBLIVION.
Need a beast of a computer to play that game? Mostly you will need a strong graphics processer unit.

I hope you played Final Fantsy VIII. It's the best of the lot.
oh man thats a laugh and a half.
most annoying characters of the whole series. and probly worst gameplay as well. I kinda enjoyed the worlds of laguna and the hero colliding a bit but overall it stunk. Tactics was amazing 7 was unreal and 12 is catching up but i think im 20 hours away from a concrete opinion

Any opinions on Guild Wars, EverQuest, Diablo, or Final Fantasy 1-1000 (or so)? These also seem to be popular titles, and I assume some of you may have experience with them. Again, all comments appreciated.
EverQuest is more about leveling and getting more powerful weapons. Not that great of a game. I think that a great role play game that is coming out is Vanguard. It is by the original team of EverQuest and is what EverQuest 2 could have been. Guild Wars has free internet play. Diablo is a short game and is not a MMORPG.

im 40 hours into ff12 and it is amazing! So many good details, and what not. Obviously if your into the online world of rpgs its not so great but the game has it all for those of us who prefer to go it alone. I get sucked in for hours on end. Great to play while waiting for chess moves to come up here.
Fourty hours is not enough time to evaluate a game. I played more then fourty hours a week for about two years in EverQuest.

I don't think it did when I was researching it. It must be new. I wonder how they implemented it exactly?

I miss Sullon Zek :'(
You are not Wizzyfal are you? If you are I owe you a punch in the mouth.

Sixty hours. I would hate to tell you how long it took me to level a Wizard to level ten in EverQuest. It took over six months. I finally gave up and started a Magician.

Yes, it's graphically heavy, but forunately I have a beast of a computer 🙂

You really shouldn't play with an RPG, the damned thing might explode.

THAT'S exactly what I need for my combat sequences! Forget spell casting, fire a rocket! (These are the ramblings of a noob trying to play a Mage character).

I found Oblivions storyline boring, although the rest of the game is quite good.It was fun for about 40hours.However I found both NWN2 and Gothic 3 to be more enjoyable.I'm not sure these games will like your 512mb Ram.The best computer rpg in my opinion is Planescape Torment at least story wise but it's ancient (1998).
Planescape torment had one of the best storylines of any game I've ever played. I would love to see it remade.

In case anyone missed it before, I'd just like to say how irritatingly poor Gothic 3 is. I've been playing it for about 12 hours now and whilst the landscapes and characters are well done, the gameplay is obtuse and unclear, the skill advancing system is irritating and the item explanations are non-existent. There's no indication of what damage spells do and the prevailence of wild animals that can beat you to death in seconds is just plain bonkers. I have yet to see any benefit that warrants me having bought the game. Oblivion is much, much better. 5/10

Maybe they tried to make it more realistic. In real life you don't pick up an item and find a list of stats engraved on it. Wild animals often are capable of beating people to death quickly in real life.
