You know, when I was younger I used to play chess on hallucinagens.
Only when I was playing my very good friends. It was fascinating.
Now I get a thrill from just playing, and thinking, and being sharp. If
you don't count beer, I'm chemical free.

Sometimes a take a beer or two when I play, I don't this has no effect
unless I drink too many beers. It has happened to me a couple
times, and I have had to pay for it dearly.

OH dont I know the cost of trying to play CHESS DRUNK. you tend to
think your pawn is a queen and vice versa. then you as confse your
knigth with for some ungodly reason a BISHOP. so it does not work
well

Yeah, I know, you are right, but it maes it also more challenging.
The "deeper' thoughts are history of few beers. I am not taking these
games too seriously, I am just playing for fun and entertainment. I
don't have a desire to reach to the top (which I would not mind), but
since I am working on TWO masters at the university, working fulltime
while traveling 35-65% of my time, this is fun.
The only time when I have a time for a beer is when I am playing.

It's really just for my own information and curiosity-- when I was in
college, many years ago, I will admit that I indulged in pretty much
every substance known to mankind. I'm also toying with an idea for a
short-story about a Master chess player who becomes addicted to an
experimental drug that he is only supposed to take while playing
chess, and what sort of impact that would have on his everyday life, so
i just wanted to put the question out there and see what people had to
say.

It may be far worse than that; heard recently that alchohol happens to affect a rarely used part of
the brain which, coincidentally, is also important in the thought processes involved in chess. Net
result is the strong risk of a brain haemorrhage. Thereagain, my ongoing test–program has failed
to confirm this so far.

It's tough to do a proper "blind" study though; you have to be able to
play chess without knowing whether or not your are drunk.

Indeed, but in the name of science and for the sake of truth one must keep on trying. Maybe I
should get a third party ginea pig in to test the category 'blind drunk' – I suspect that that is likely
to produce real results.

A real shame we can't play Alcoholic Chess on the Web. Jan

Do you mean a dildo? It seems a funny thing to ask, well it depends
on the position of the bishop

Uhhh...I made a person very upset by mentioning something that
wasn't even half as harsh as that object...remember...this is a family
site.
