The one that stands out for me is "Band on the Run". They played that poor song to death.

"Crazy". Even Gnarls Barkley themselves agree.

Also, one you probably don't know because it's by a Dutch singer, "A Night Like This". But they stopped playing that for a while and when I heard it again last week I liked it again.

I turn on the radio in the car.

Smoke on the Water.
I turn it off.

Deep Purple has so many other great songs!!!
Why is this the only one they'll play?
I like the song but I can't stand how much it's played.

Smells Like Teen Spirit spoke volumes to me as a teen. Now I usually turn it off.

In reciprocal to the original question, one song I do still adore after hearing it probably over 3,000 times in my meagre life span is "Wonderful World" by Mr L Armstrong himself.

It always enthuses a smile for me.

I used to have "Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction recorded over and over again on a whole side of a tape (remember them?).
I could listen to that over and over and not get bored the whole 45mins.
Is that strange?

You're not the only one. It always makes me feel happy. I am not - it should be obvious - the greatest fan of humanity, but this song never fails to make me feel a bit more love for my fellow humans. Mind you, it does have to be Satchmo singing it - anyone else's voice just won't do it.

Mind you, that may well be more to do with you having grown out of your Teen Spirit than with over-exposure per se. It is not a song which ages well with its listeners.

Agreed Richard. It's a pure classic. Definitely a top desert island disc choice!

It's in my head now! 🙂 🙂...

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

One can't help but smile at the beauty of simplicity.
