Can anybody tell me whether there have been serious reports in the US press about this issue:
Now the culture of death has covered itself with the ignominious practice of selling body parts of aborted babies. Indeed, many see the use of body parts for research as the driving force behind partial-birth abortions which are done as late as 32 weeks and later, and even for after-birth abortions, in which a women is induced to deliver her infant and, if born alive, is left to die or is killed in a utility room of the hospital. These abortion procedures provide the researchers with fetal body parts.
It doesn't sound very likely to me. Secret conspiracies that either persuade mothers to kill their babies or kill them in a back room? And research into what? How to stop babies dying...?🙄 What else would the bodies be good for?
I think Kirk was closer when he talked about Stem cells - this sounds like the debate about using 'baby' cells for research has got twisted by someone who doesn't know what stem cell research is. After that it's all imagination as to how these baby cells would be accuired (by aborting late term feotus or killing new borns).
I may be wrong (although I doubt it) - what source made you bring this up?
Originally posted by belgianfreakActaully I think stem cells can be acquired from blood from the umbilical cord and I know there have been some cases where a couple have decided to have another child to get these stem cells to aid an older child who had cancer.

Originally posted by kirksey957they can be taken feom the umbilical cord. I think they can also betaken by starting a foetus ina a lab and taking the cells, but this is less PC and where talk of killing babies comes from.

The issue of having another child to get the cells to help another child is contensious - are the parents having the extra child only for that purpose? What if that child isn't compatable - have another? In the case of genetic illneses, what if the new child is also affected? What effect will it have on the new child ("I wasn't really wanted, only wanted for my spare parts...". I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but there are potential downsides.

If you are pro-abortion, the aborted tissue is of much use as discarded toe-nail. Why not make it into face cream? Surely the woman has a right to choose?
And if you regard abortion as murder - then abortion is the crime, and the subsequent disposal of the victim unimportantyby comparision.
I would expect some logic from chess players.
Originally posted by flexmoreBush took a lot of heat for supporting a bill that outlawed FURTHER expansion of stem cell research by banning the use of ABORTED parts in future research. This was really a compromise at limiting DELIBERATE selling of abortion product and allowing basic research to go forward. I thought it was a good compromise. But then I thought Nixon straightened out Kennedy/Schlesinger/Johnson/McNamara's Viet Nam mess pretty well. You see where that got me. McNamara is winning film festivals as anti-war and Kennedy is a saint. Go Figure!
isnt this the stuff about those cells that can grow up to become any cell?
T cells ?
