My girlfriend wants another cat or kitten. We already have a one-year old, quite playful, cat (female, neutered). If we bring in another kitten / cat, what will be her reaction? Could an adult (teenage) cat kill a kitten?

Say, "Good, I want a dog."

Who changes the litter box in your house?

Your girlfriend will be happy with another cat.

An older cat could probably kill a younger cat, unless the younger cat was stronger or the older cat was weaker.

No one does. Our cat goes outside.

Your current cat will view your house as her territory. It is highly unlikely she will accept a new cat without any trouble. It will put her under a great deal of stress and confusion and she will most likely attack the new cat and generally act strange. However, unless your cat is particularly vicious and territorial it shouldn't take too long for he ...[text shortened]... cause serious injury but you should be around to watch over them in the first few days / weeks.
Agreed. But, does the same apply to a kitten, say, about 6 weeks old? Would a cat really kill a kitten?

I don't know that it would kill it. The older one wouldn't be too pleased, and might pick on it a little, but he's just showing the little one who's boss. And if he does kill it, you can always punt him out the window.

When I was younger, my dad bought 2 cats. Then, when one of them died, we got 2 more. There was a little trouble at first, but eventually things calmed down (no serious accidents), and now they have 3 cats and even a dog (yes they do get along!).
