What do we think about people, especially in tournements and clan games that start to move slow once they are in a LOST position?

Should I not worry that it takes 6 or so days to make 4 forced moves in a row even though the player used to move twice a day when the game was even???

😞

Yes, I slow down also when I need to think, but I am talking about 1 move you can make... you have one move... There is no choice. One legal move.

The only thing you can do , is to ask him or her to make
a move ....... and the rest is sportsmanship !

Just try to enjoy the fact that the win is likely to come sooner or later. I'd rather be winning in a drawn-out game than losing in one.

There are 7 plausible explanations for this:-

1. He can’t bear to look at the game.
2. He needs more time to think.
3. He wants to delay losing rating points.
4. He wishes the game would go away.
5. He hopes you go on vacation, so he can time you out.
6. He’s doing this to annoy you, to provoke a mistake.
7. He’s a bad loser.

I hope it is 1 and 2... but I fear it is a combination of the others. Thanx Tebb-Man

I tried a tactic. I had someone in a long hall that went slow when losing. I put myself up as on vacation and suprise suprise he moves withing 5 minutes after taking 14 days on all previous moves in a losing position. Well coincidence it could be. But I laughted. I now put myself on vacation and off vacation just so the person does not have a clue. I love to think he spends his time trying to work out when I am on vacation. The best thing of all is I have a portable so when on vacation I can still make my moves. ROTFLMAO

I think there are other possible explanations:

8. He is very busy. Check to see if he is moving more frequently in other games.
9. He is playing a lot of games, with limited time, and it's just 'easier' to play the others.

I don't think these are excuses though. If the situation is as bad as it sounds, he should just resign.

I checked, he has just a few games, and makes moves every day... just not in mine.

I think I will try the vacation trick and see if that triggers him... 'shnicker!' See you guys when I get back.

Actually, he seems to move all his games now every 6 days... So I guess I will just wait.... must be all lost positions.... the ones I checked were anyway.

i'm in a pair of games now where i've been moving infrequently - reason #8. i realised that the rest of the games in the clan battle had been decided, and that my slowness was delaying his clan from getting points (our games are about even, and their outcome can't influence the clan result). So i message him with a move, saying i would endeavour to move faster so his clan could get their points. he didn't bother to reply. that riles me a bit - it's just common courtesy to reply when spoken to, even if you CAN hide behind the anomnity of an internet connection and a nom de chess (forgotten the French for 'chess'πŸ˜‰. the rude $^#%# can go to the back of the queue now - i move per fortnight from me.
i can hear you saying 'but maybe he just pressed move by accident and really intended to reply'. aha, but i wished him luck on the first move, and he didn't bother to reply then either.
I've just edited this to remove his name from the post.
...and there's reason #10: you pissed him off somehow....

But the point is I don't give a sh*t. Make a move every 14 days in a losing game just on the hope the oposition goes on vacation. What a sad sad person. Them them know had sad they are.
