Answering Cell Phones

Though no longer carry one since retirement, I'm still entertained by the way others answer theirs. Poolside ping

pong buddie Dave invariably does so with a mock serious, 'Crisis Control'. Wondering how you answer yours.

Reluctantly.

Never. It's a phone for me to use, not a convenience for other people.

by checking caller ID and deciding if I reeeeally want to talk to the caller.

My ring tone is "Paranoid". I only answer my cell phone if I think it's an urgent call, otherwise I'm adept at ignoring phones.

Question: Does using a cell phone cause brain tumors?

Answer: According to the National Cancer Institute, "studies have not shown any consistent link between cellular telephone use and cancer, but scientists feel that additional research is needed before firm conclusions can be drawn".

If you especially concerned with the risks of using a cellular phone, you can follow these guidelines from the FDA:

•Reserve the use of cellular telephones for shorter conversations, or for when a conventional phone is not available.

•Switch to a type of cellular telephone with a hands-free device that will place more distance between the antenna and the phone user.

My ringtone is "Shaft" from Isaac Hayes. When it goes off, I know I'm going somewhere.

I shout "what the hell do you want?" as aggressively as possible.

Didn't Issac also co-write "Soul Man?"

According to IMDB, Soul Man was written by Carol Baker. Disappointing film, to say the least. So much potential but terrible execution.

I should have been more specific. I freaking hated that C. Thomas Howell bomb. I meant to reference the Sam and Dave song.

Ditto. If it doesn't come up as a name from my phone contact list, then I don't answer it.
