Are there any anti virus sites I can download from onto a USB memory stick? I have no protection on my PC but no internet, somebody told me I could download a program and updates onto my flashcard but they didn't remember the site.

Thanks ever so.

Why would you want an antivirus, if you aren't online to get a virus ?

Transferring files via USB from work to home PC. Small risk maybe but worth precautionary measures.

ALWAYS have virus protection. Installation CDs, USB drives - anything could be a virus carrier.

scan the files before you transfer them to your usb.

I do, but I'm depending on the anti-virus here being up to date, sadly the people in charge of IT here are useless, and I'm no whizz myself. It seems to be up to date, but I'd prefer something at home too. If anybody knows about this site I'd be glad to hear. Thanks.

Not sure exactly what you mean, but I'll forge ahead.

I'll tell you what I use.
Get AVG Free Edition. Works pretty well and it's free.
Then, once a week you can download the latest updates onto your flash drive and keep your software and definition database updated.

Some of the other free ones may work the same, but I don't know.

Hi

This sounds perfect. I'm sure I can work it out but if you have a URL it'll save me trawling through possible sites.

Thanks

if you are asking about antivirus for home protection i guess most can work, (avast, nod32, etc). and i am sure most have the option of downloading updates in a setup.exe form.

at work always ask the it person in charge. they are responsible for security and if you infect the computer with the usb drive you are trying to update from, it would be sad.

Get Avast.

It is rated No. 1 and it is free.

AVG is also good but doesn't include a resident shield in the free version.

I don't have virus protection and I never have virusses. I know some people who do have one, but most virus protection programmes are worse than the virrusses.

Edit: Windows keeps nagging about it. (if I turn the computer on) Is there a way to stop it?

how do you know you don't have viruses if you don't scan for them?
