Edit: Windows keeps nagging about it. (if I turn the computer on) Is there a way to stop it?
You WILL get one eventually, if you actually use your PC and don't have it quarantined - never installing any programs, connecting external drives, inserting CDs and using the net. Especially if this PC is connected to the Internet.

The question isn't if, but when...

Most anti-virus applications are actually worse than the virus itself? 😛
You obviously don't have a clue...

Haha; what's the point of an Anti Virus if it doesn't have a "resident shield"? 🙄🙄

Also, who tells you Avast is rated number 1?
That's not what I've heard.
AVG has been for years but Avira is catching them fast.

I've tried both, but AVG has just worked a little sleeker and easier for me. It definitely has a better interface than avast! (or had when I tried it about 2 years ago).
I remember the avast! update manager failing a few times and it made me switch back to AVG.

I don't download from unknown sires and that's enough. My anti-virus applications were scanning sites and suspecting my programms and spamming.

Don't think I do nothing against those virusses, I make back-ups every month or so.

I remember a case of a virus slipping onto discs that was distributed by a magazine - can't remember exactly who it was.
Trusted sites may inadvertently give you one, or the site could be hacked etc.

Never take anything for granted.

Well, I'd rather have a virus for one day then a anti-virus program for years

Good luck. LMAO.

When you lose all your data or your banking details, come back and say that again.

you're basing your opinion of avast from 2 years ago? jebus, get with the times.

The new AVAST is excellent. Go to Cnet.com and read the reviews.

care to explain?

I have the free version and it doesn't actively scan for spyware. You have to do it manually. It says so right on the screen.

EDIT: I'm talking the anti-spyware version here.
