Myself, de wifey and de 2 sprogs are up and moving over this w/end coming.
House we are in in mess of boxes etc. House we are going still being finished - kitchen only half in, floors concrete still, tiling around shower/bath not done and builders stuff everywhere...
I'm wondering have you guys got any tips so I can learn from your experiance rather than my own ๐

If you have pets, make sure the house is completely moved into before bringing them across. Moving into a new house can be extremely stressful for a pet and you should make it as gentle a transition as possible, if there are still boxes everywhere and people coming and going, they may be better off being left with friends until the house is ready.
Daemon Sin - moving to total Roaster Country. Village has 1 of everything and no more... 1 pub (150 yds away hurrah), 1 chippie, 1 shop, 1 school and 1 church. The chippie will be getting lots of business from us over w/end!
Varq - all connected thanks
Jimmyb270 - good advice lol but not so easy to take when succession of plumbers, tilers, kitchen guys, sparks and floorers are no shows. Surprising how many tradesmen have sick mothers/burst pipes/punctures at same time...
Starrman - no pets yet though we'll get a dog out at new place I reckon.

That sounds pretty stressful. I am glad I don't have to do anything with the flat I have bought (I'll move in August). I'll probably paper one of the rooms because I don't like the wallpaper, but that's it. Moving is stressful enough as it is.
Get as many people to help as possible. Many hands make light work.
Get a crate of cold beer in - to share the end of the day.
If you've hired a van try and get the stuff you are throwing out to the tip while you've still got the van, otherwise it just hangs around making the new place look untidy!
Good luck, I hope you and your family are happy in your new home.
On the first night you move in your wife and you should stand out in the middle of the front yard stark naked and still as a statue for several hours. Like window shop mannequins. Be in a pose like holding a rake or looking at your wrist as if a watch was there.
My wife and I did that and we have never had any trouble with our new neighbors. As a matter of fact I dont think they have even been over to say hi yet, its been one year.
