It is and you should.

At the very least, make your grandkids dad cry like a broken hearted prom date!

I'm doin' it ! But he ran off Thursday night after his little scooter ride, we haven't seen him since, so I have to wait until he gets hungry and comes back.

Beating his ass may sound like a good idea, but it will simply embitter the lad and not teach him a thing.Teach the boy a lesson.
Make him go out and work and earn the money to repair the vehicle back to it's condition prior to the kids joy ride. Then make him wash and maintain it after you ride it.

14 year olds can't work unless it's through a private party, couldn't I just sell him off into slavery?

I think he can pay you back very well and soon if you put him to work in the red light district. Or an alley located nearby...

Good idea! He'll fetch a good price. Maybe I should see if any Arabs want him. I hear that in Islamic countries young boys are worth a fortune.

How fast can you make that thing go? Just kidding; you probably shouldn't run him over with it, as that would simply cause more damage to the scooter.

Are there not a summer's worth of chores needed done around the house? Dad should beat him like a rented mule, and then rent him out to you to help cover the costs.

Have you checked underneath the scooter wreckage? 😕

During the month he's grounded he's certainly welcome to keep the house clean and scrubbed, mopped, dusted, ironed, all that tedius stuff. Or you can have him sell HIS stuff to pay for the damage, plus interest. Stealing a vehicle is not acceptable at any age, and if you consider criminal behavior *normal* then he will grow up to live with a whole locked building full of people for whom criminal behavior is normal.

There's nothing wrong with a good ole fashioned passionate ass whipping here. He wrecked our scooter and ran away? Yeah, I would get my tail whipped from here to China if I did that.

You're right. An ass whooping is exactly what he needs. I got my ass whooped growing up. One good ass whooping and he will never do it again (or at least get caught...).

I hope he hurt himeself when he fell off. Make him bend over and use his arse to park the front wheel in. Leave him chained outside yr house so you always have a place to park it. Make sure u have been for a nice long ride first so the tyres are hot when you insert it into his jacksie.
Other than that say 'Oh well Boys will be boys' and just make sure you take the keys with you from now on.....

This is really serious. The problem isn't that he took the scooter (of course), the problem is what's going on in his life that he felt he needed to do that.

I recommend NO DISCIPLINE. Instead of feeding the problem, the two of you need to get professional help.

No.

However you could get a mate (who your grandson doesn't know) to act as a policeman and call round.

A quick visit to a fancy dress hire shop for a policemans uniform, then
you go home and have a "wee argument" with your grandson, go into a pretend temper and then say you have had enough with his attitude and you are calling the cops about him stealing your scooter.

You then call your mate, who arrives 10 minutes later to arrest him.

Priceless, funny and worth the fancy dress hire 🙂
