Areas of Agreement #101
May we all agree: (1) That the earth is not flat; (2) That the law of gravity is real; (3) That gravity enables us to walk upright;
(4) That all human beings are given life one day at a time and die from shortness of breath; (5) That females are beautiful.
😉
(7) That we all tend to take each one of them totally for granted without even an iota of gratitude..

Wait a minute here. "If" you believe, is part of the belief some sort of Debt?
that we are dependent for our life support and in no way self sustaining. In my book, that warrants gratitude.

In a pristine remote jungle village the moment may not occur until late teens or early adulthood... when the individual gazes upward at the sun, moon or stars and thinks, 'Maybe there's someone up there who is bigger and stronger than my father or our village chief'. During such moments decisions are invariably made: "If there is a living god and you're up there, I want to know you" or "Whether you're up there or not, I really don't give a damn." Answer to your first question is 'yes' and to the second 'no'. As a child you were grateful to your parents for food on the table, because they were the source of its provision for you.

GB how is it now, in "answering" my questions, you bring in a spiritual aspect? I agree that there comes a time when everyone (usually) questions just about everything, some "scientifically, others in other ways. Does anyone ask to "be put on earth"? I think not, it happens (we all know how) so IF there is gratitude to be bestoed for being able to breath do we thank our parents? They didn't provide the air necessary to sustain life. Do we thank a god? What if we don't believe in that. Do we not then just take it for granted that since it's a necessary function of being able to live and thus there is nothing or no one to be grateful to.
