Indeed. The man was a genius. 'Porridge' was, IMHO, one of the best sticoms of all time. And Fletch one of the greatest characters.

The best joke was the one that was used in Only Fools and Horses - when Trigger says he has had the same broom for x years - fourteen new heads and 20 new handles!!

Ahhhh... but this joke was actually used by David Jason as G-g-g-granville in Open All Hours first!

Bit disappointed that more people haven't paid homage in this thread - come on peeps, the man was a complete legend.... he even made Ronnie Corbett look funny every now and again.....

Don't forget the scene in Porridge where he was taking his medical and the doc says "could you fill this jar, please?" to which Fletch replies "what, from here?". A joke so good it was stolen for a Bond film with Sean Connery.
