Where can I find Saturn in the night sky?

No silly, sarcastic answers, please. Just acquired telescope and want to locate interesting celestial objects.

It's next to Jupiter somewhere. Keep your telescope still and look for rings. If you see a ring piece pms me please. Otherwise, it is 1 degree away from the moon tonight (saturn that is) so you should really have no probs in locating it...... light from the moon may hinder you......

Go buy a planisphere. They're cheap and the best thing to help beginners find stuff in the night sky.

Saturn
Bright Saturn sits in Leo, the Lion throughout the month and is high in the south at sunset. Through the evening and the rest of the night Saturn moves across and down to the west setting around 4am. The waxing gibbous (but only just over half) Moon sits to the left of the planet on the 25th.

You're right. I should have elaborated a bit. I meant that any beginning astronomer should have a planisphere to be able to find points of interest and certain landmarks which makes finding other stuff easier.

Any one here an astronomer or astro-physcist? I plan to make my career in those directions and might learn something.
