AVG!!!

The bakstrads have installed AVG toolbar on all my machines, and it's a pain to get rid of fully.

Any good free anti-virus recs?

Turns out it wasn't AVG at all. I was a little shocked at the invasiveness for it to be AVG. It was actually PDFCreator which installed a hidden addon for firefox, entitled "search settings plugin". I uninstalled this (and feckin PDFCreator) and I've got my 404 pages back again.
