Who were you last time around?
Is there any point banning them apart from the benefit to the site that it gets another registered user added to the list, very impressive for site statistics, very poor for the game.
A new system is required which satisfies both.
Edit: Eureka!!!, I have the answer.
Verified and unverified.
All non sub scum and banned players get moved into unverified, a no man's land if you will.
All subscribers get moved into verified and stay there until proven to be an unsavoury member.
If a player is identified as being eligible for banning he/she can decide to keep his old name or elect another before being moved into unverified.
It shouldn't be too hard to work out the rules for promotion to verified.
Two player tables and something else to work towards.
Edit 1: Added "she" above so as not to be sexist.
Edit2: Three player tables would be better and that would really start bringing the cash in.

Our ancestors would cross themselves when they felt the breath of death touch upon them. We make some snide remark, or mutter a complaint to the effect that the banned have no right to come a haunting the forum....
But they doooo... (hollow laughter)
Originally posted by YorobotI can fully appreciate why a banned player would want to return, it is a fun game and a good site.

A lot of people get a lot of things from RHP et al, with respect to my first edit above, in a domain where engine users can exist without fear of being banned, it would leave it to the individual player to decide if their opponent was a cheater.
For the serious players, promotion is only achieved once they have proved themselves to be worthy.
As in life, a good player has to fight through the scum and cheaters to get to the top, but it makes the trip much more rewarding.

I think it would be very hard for RHP to remain commercially interesting AND introduce some kind of classsystem. The net, again, is democratic to the core, and its users are very spoiled. Gameknot or RHP, you-can-be-king or you-can-be-peasant-until-some-true-blood-type-deems-you-worthy.
