Do the owners of this commercial site have an obligation to justify the banning of one of their customers from the forums? Or can they just ban anyone they feel like banning, since it is their site?
Would anyone here withdraw their subscription or discontinue playing on the site because of what they perceived to be an unfair banning of someone else from the forums?
At this point, I'm just asking questions, not offering answers.

Step One: Someone says something -- either in the heat of the moment or with malice aforethought.
Step Two: Post gets pulled and person gets a ban.
Step Three: Ban is announced and discussed with all the enthusiasm of a ref's bad call at a football game.
Step Four: Positions are taken:
A: This one doesn't get banned so why did that one?
B: Freedom of speech is absolute, even though I agreed to the TOS that say otherwise.
C: Sometimes you're the pidgeon and sometimes you're the statue; life goes on.
D: This place is horrible and I'll never play here again (but try not to notice that I secretly renew my subscription every year anyway).
E: If I break the rules enough that will somehow cause the site owner to change the rules.
F: Who?
Step 5: Festivities upon the return of the banned, as step four takes tends to take the whole term of the forum ban.
Step 6: Another day of Step 5, just to keep the conversation going.
Repeat.
