Basic Manhood #101
Mid-Term Quiz (Please Answer True or False)
1. One thing about being a gentleman is that you never blame a woman for decisions you make. Rather than assign blame to her, a real
man quietly takes up the misunderstanding slack in the relationship... and never slaps or strikes a woman no matter what the provocation.
2. On various occasions, over the years, your well intentioned and loving Mother has thought or said, "No way my little boy would say or do that.
He's always been such a smart, good little boy." Though you make allowances, you realize your Mother was and perhaps still is full of prunes.
3. Your father administered discipline in a flexible manner, its severity depending upon the nature of your offense. Though he did not spare
the rod, less egregious willful acts of disobedience and incorrigibility often resulted in a lecture which began with the word, "Why... ?"
You memorized the honest answer at an early age, "No excuse, Sir." You respect your father and mother, or their memory, to this very day.
Number of True Answers:
* Three = Flying colors. Your manhood is secure.
* Two = Stay on course. You're on your way.
* One = We're glad you signed up for the class.
* Zero = About all you've got is a male body.

No.
3. I fail to see why a father beating a child with a rod can ever be considered a good thing.
Hell no.
Irrespective of what you may think, my manhood is secure, despite not been beat up by my dad.
What a God awful test.

While any real man would agree tht hitting a woman is completely wrong, the condescending tone of your question should be seen as offensive to all women (and men) everywhere. Not allowing a person to be wrong is as bad as not allowing them a vote or whatever else you don't allow women. Part of being "liberated" (and I put it in quotes because there should never have been cause for women to be anything but liberated, unfortunately history and I don't get along on that point) is having the right to be told when you are wrong.
In your second question, you reinforce the sexism made apparent in your first question. Not only that, you also make bad parenting the offspring's fault. Why should a woman necessarily be the one who thinks of their child as perfect? Further, why should anyone be responsible for whether or not their mother has said something even resembling your quote?
The third question doesn't even allow for a person's own actions. This is similar to question two, in that it makes a person responsible for another person's actions. How am I responsible for my father's methods of discipline?
Here are the real rules for manhood -
Courage, Honour, Strength, Hope.
Courage is to act honourably in all situations, regardless of consequences.
Honour is to do what your heart knows is right, despite consequences.
Strength is to have the hope that things can be better than they are so long as you are strong enough to hang on.
Hope is strength. It is, in a sense, love for the future. Denying hope is to wish for death in the other way of looking at it.
Courage, Honour, Strength, Hope - Those make you a man. Not some backassward way of looking at parenting and women.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion and bedrock views but I must believe that you grasp at least a few of these fundamental concepts.

How about responding to the idea, rather than the words? Unless you aren't able. Ask a woman who has read your post and my response - they will probably agree with me. Pedestal aside - obviously men worship certain parts of a woman - that doesn't mean that all the boneheads like you have changed their condescending attitudes when it comes to their thoughts, which is what you referenced in your questions.
Edit - "Pedestal" not "Pedastal." If you want to make a convincing argument you should spell two and three syllable words correctly.

And being worshipped isn't something I find desirable. It turns the worshipped person into an object rather than a subject and makes true friendship impossible. I much prefer an equal relationship in which both people involved see each other as fellow human beings.
