Had a bath for the first time in years yesterday*.

It ws great. Got me thinking,which is not like me.

Why do americans use the posh prononcation(sp)?

Short and long 'a' sound. "Barth" v "Bath" ('a' as in 'cat'😉.

In the UK which you use tends to depend on where you come from. But, generally speaking, "barth" is the posher version.

Which fits with what I said. It depends on where you come from. But a posh northerner might use the longer vowel.
