A friend of mine (an insurance executive v.p.) asked me if I knew a good electrician to fix the electric heat in their three season room. So I gave him a number and the guy came out the next day and replaced a small thermistor in the baseboard. He charged him $75 for about 30 minutes worth of work (didn't charge him travel). My friend seemed a bit miffed and asked me if that amount sounded right. My response? "Well do you think you could have fixed it yourself?", he answered, "no". The I replied "Then it was worth it wasn't it?" To which he humbly agreed.
