Here's a tidbit for the coffee elite. Although surprisingly inexpensive, the toddy coffee maker aids in making the best cup of coffee available.

The problem with any coffee making process is the addition of heat. The toddy process does not add heat until after the coffee has been cold filtered, thus removing the oils and other unwanted by-products of heat to the grounds. Simple and ingenuous, actually.

Here's how it works. First you take one pound of ground beans and place them in the plastic container of the toddy. At the very bottom of the container, there is a removable plug. Between the plug and the grounds, there is a replaceable filter, much like a sponge. To the pound of grounds, add ten cups of cold water. Let sit for 12 to 24 hours.

At the end of the 'sit' time, pull the plug and position the toddy over a container, and allow the concentrate to drain. You now have a concentrate, which should remain cold until use. For one cup of coffee, use one part concentrate to two parts hot water. The best cup of coffee you will ever drink, guaranteed.

It works with any type of coffee, whether you ground it yourself, or you get it out of a can. The company has a website, which I think is (surprisingly) toddy.com. A unit costs something like $25, or less. Worth every penny.

Kicking Horse brand, "Kick Ass" darkroast made in a french-press by my sister-in-law. Black. Or with whipping cream for a real treat. Never sugar! It crosses the line from being a beverage to being a food.

Varg,
Your boobie avatar is making me dizzy, taking away from the fine coffee settling in my tummy. 😞

I never buy Nescafé or any other Nestlé products although I hear they now do a Fair Trade Nescafé.

To me a good cup of coffee has to be fairtrade as well as taste good (and fairtrade and organic is even better)

I currently drink instant Clippers Fairtrade organic coffee, a little pricey but at least I know it's an ethical choice, so my cup of coffee tastes better for it!

Fair trade Orange? do you mean Terry's chocolate Orange??

No pure orange juice (made from concentrate, an oxymoron, surely)

€2.35 a litre. . .what a rip.

Yes I know how pricey it can be.
There's a gorgeous OJ out there, it's "Grove Fresh Organic Orange Juice"? Not from concentrate, it's out of this world.

Edit: it's not actually Fair Trade 😞
