Yes. And I don't think I have switched it off (definitely not in the newest version which I hadn't even used yet). I did switch off all Windows sounds, but that wouldn't stop the browser sounds, would it?

I see. But why would anyone want all those crazy Windows sounds anyway? Switching them off was almost the first thing I did when I got my laptop.

Thing is the guys at FF both
a) find the holes quicker
and
b) send out the patches more swiftly

The only people who I ever seem to hear about complaining about FF are non-FF users.
5 years and not a single issue for me.

same thing here, it's been the first thing I do after every installation since ages ago. however I do remember how incredibly annoying the clicking sound was. and at least in some older versions it had a separate checkbox somewhere in the browser settings I think? what a horrible 'feature'.

I actually remember a clicking sound, but I am not sure it was in IE. There seemed to be sounds for almost everything. Crazy.

The repeated clicking sound was the sound of Bill Gates' coffers throbbing with satisfaction at your continued sheep-like allegiance to his backward browser.

I only use IE for pages that Firefox doesn't show properly. And as I said, I don't think the sounds were limited to the browser.

I only use FF for pages whose creators have scripted them to refuse working with ie.

TFC is so much better with Foxfire, er, Firefox.

From Microsoft:

"With sound, less is more. The ideal sound effect is one that users barely notice, but they would miss if it were absent."

I bet you really miss the sound effects, yeah? 😡
