How about a list of people who make you drag them, kicking and screaming, all the way to checkmate after losing their Queens?
Originally posted by huntingbearAlongside those who just make you checkmate them, even though they have nothing but a king. My personal view is I would rather get on with another game, so when a player has worked hard to get that winning advantage over me, I'll usually tip my hat and resign.

Somewhere else I read it's considered bad manners to continue in a lost position, generally I'd go along with that statement. 😲

Ah, McCarthyism is alive and well I see.
Yes, slow movers are frustrating, but if it isn't a tournament or a clan game, does it really matter? Is the Earth going to quit spinning if someone is tardy in moving?
As for moving during hopeless causes, I have made my share of mistakes and lost when I had a big advantage. Also, some people learn more by drawing out a lost cause. I learned alot about tactics by playing keep away with my king against people with some patience.
Originally posted by geniusI wouldn't have a problem with someone playing on because they wanted to practise - say in a King/Pawn ending (not that I would make a good teacher 😉 ) as long as the moves are being made within a reasonable timescale.

If anyone struggles to understand or play endgames well, then there are many internet resources to help you. Unless the player you're playing is very patient and can help analyse the position with you, then I think it's fair to offer him the win.

By 'don't live up to' are you talking players who cannot make a move in seven days?? 😕
About the 'slow movers' posts in here,I wasn't talking about them.Nothing wrong with taking your time.Even in a 'lost' position.I don't resign easy myself, and I have saved many so called 'lost' games. Most people here don't even know when a game is lost, and I am one of them,so I play on to see if it can't be saved.
If you don't like that,you're welcome to resign.Really,I don't mind 😉
