Originally posted by KorchI think its a good package overall. Minor fixes (premove feature, rematch-button and blitz ratings of course) could make it better but im happy already.
I dunno if i need to blame interface or my net but its too slow for 2 min game.
Btw. Our 2 min game with Jusuh was draw.
Not sure if there is correction of lag. I hope there is.
Man oh man I suck at this Blitz crapola. I'm like W - 0, L- 479,000, and D - 1.
Of course I keep breaking my "no vodka while blitzing rule." Oh yeah, and the one about making sure I connect my proper mouse before playing so the touch-pad thingy doesn't screw me up.
I still suck... at least I win sometimes on FICS. 😠

Originally posted by RamnedI tried a few times on FICS. I've found that if I don't get too excited about the time constraints I can potentially win in about 4-5 minutes. So I play mainly 5/0. On here I am having to learn all over again. I seem to be losing with ~2 minutes still remaining which in a five minute game is loads of time. If I play less than four minutes I absolutely cannot win ever. At least not on FICS anyway.

My take on "rhpblitz"
- you cannot view games being played
- I did not see a way to challenge the other users in the room.
- Its a Yahoo type thing, whilst power users may want a PlayChess or even ICC type app. I believe PlayChess/FICS/ICC are telnet type applications. ICC is very ugly and does not have as many features as PlayChess requiring you to type loads of commands. As FICS is based on ICC the source may be available.
Originally posted by z00tRuss, z00t is actually sorta right here. I can tell you it's worth the money to improve the blitz format - of course, you'll only see that after you've done it, which is kind of a paradox...

But, PC makes butt loads of money - and ICC seems to be doing pretty well. If you could make an interface that would rival those guys I'd definitely support you. As it is now, the interface is really pretty crappy. People have only said the minor complaints that are missing, but when it comes to blitz every little bit counts. Here is my pretty extensive list of complaints:
1.It's hard to access - I know it's in BETA phase, but burying it in this site via a link seems like a bad idea - It needs to be front page, or (best case scenario) a completely separate app., on the scale of FICS, ICC, or PC.
2.Premove doesn't exist - and in blitz it's important.
3.Rematch doesn't exist - it's a really basic feature that needs to be there if you want people to show up.
4.It's pretty ugly, and there aren't different visual options. It might be annoying to add, but again, if this is going to make money and compete it's got to be there.
5.The time controls are not flexible, it's definitely best to let the player type in the controls instead of choosing from a list.
6.You can't view other games
7.Is there an option that allows you to save games? I didn't look closely, but if it's not there it should be.
8.It may be a good idea to add variants in the future - like bughouse.
9.There aren't ratings for blitz specifically, it's hard to judge how good someone is at blitz by their CC ratings because the differ vastly.
10.People have mentioned no three move draw rule - that's an absolute MUST. The rules HAVE to be implemented, otherwise it's total trash. Imagine not having en passant - makes a BIG difference.
I'll stop there for now, but Russ, you've mentioned not wanting to make any big changes until you know this thing can make money. But I don't see how it can be expected to make money without big changes. I think that if you were to put some serious time into it though, that it could definitely be a good investment - probably better than RHP itself.

ICC does not even support things we take for granted replay games or kibitz a game between GMs with Fritz. It has no engine room and the event list if full of blue - computers. There are 10 times more players at PlayChess than ICC.
Originally posted by z00tI hope you're not basing that on the free trial - free trial has changed and doesn't allow non members to play members. I'm almost positive you can kibitz GM games, plus you get all of the features that PC offers except without having to pay Ducats. Plus I get a student discount.

Does uchess allow multiple windows to be open during games?
Because I generally like to play music and usually from youtube... I have obtained a "flash.ocx" error about 20 seconds into the game; this has happened twice. Although I have managed to complete other games; I am not sure if other windows were open that that time.
Edit: I think the problem may be an erratic internet connection, sporadic internet disconnects on my end. 🙁 I sometimes have this problem on other servers too. 🙁
