Alright, every month I buy at least one book for my personal library,
and I would like any of you to recommend a delicious, well written,
interesting and novelesque BIO.

If you've read Mussolini's bio by Jasper Ridley you know exactly
what I'm talking about: Scholarly and acc. yet readable as an
enjoyable Vargas Llosa novel, for example.

Please, no bios about any hi-tech, sci-fi, Sagan or Gates like freaks.

You could try one of Peter Ackroyd's biographies (Shakespeare, Dickens, Blake...). His work on Thomas More is particularly fascinating, as well as "London: the Biography".

Thanks, BS! I will surely consider it!

More's bio by Ackroyd is now competing in my heart with a bio of
Fidel Castro.

The late Ben Pimlott's biography of Hugh Dalton is well worth a read.

May I suggest "The Egyptian" by Mika Waltari. Not only is it written by a Finn but it is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read.

EDIT: Ooops, just noticed you are after a biography. Oh well, go get this book anyway.

LOL! No worries, mate, but Sinuhe was one of the first books I
read in highschool. Lovely, though, but don't feel like reading it
again. Not now.

Any bios you love, Wheel mate?

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but there is an autobiographical novel by a man called Gregory David Roberts called Shantaram. It's a brilliant book about his escape from prison in Australia and life in India. As I said it's autobiographical so a true story, but very readable. My copy had been lent and re-lent to at least a dozen people, all gave good reviews. I've read it three times myself and am waiting to re-read for a fourth (as soon as I get it back from my girlfriend's work mate.)

Shantaram, that sounds appealing. Thanks, mate!

P.S. Thanks to everybody and keep pouring in recs on bios, I am
making my list and will get them all eventually.
