Can anyone please recommend good books on the following subjects:

Creationism vs evolution
Science and religion (Notice I cunningly used the word 'and' as opposed to 'vs', as I'm sure there are authors that feel they aren't tangential and those that feel they are.)

In both these categories, I would prefer reading unbiased publications.

Books on philosophy, both Western and Eastern (I have books on western philosophy but don't know of any classics on eastern. Nominations on both categories are welcome)

Books on Astronomy (NOT ASTROLOGY) (I have a few and I'm not a beginner, but I'd like to add to my collection)

Thanking any responders in advance.

Why buy one when you can steal one from any hotel room?

He should also check out the Alternate Ending Version which contains an extra testament at the end.

Picture this:

The end times.

The World Church is rising in power and only one man, nay, one God, can stop them.

[Cut to Christ firing an M-16, posing a la John Rambo]

And you were worried about a Nuclear war...

Coming to bookstores 2007.
(Any similarities of the New New Testament to the 1985 film Red Dawn are purely coincidental)

before you read ANY book on evolutionism & creationism, it is important to see one end by yourself, without the opinion of an author. Go read it, seriously; then read Darwin, obviously... and when you are done, then you can easily surf authors speaking about both ends, able to form your own opinion instead of copying the one of the first author you read.

Seriously though, check out "Inherit the Wind" by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. It's a fictional book but it's very thought-provoking and still relevant today. You could read it in a night or two.

No, be careful, do not listen, I repeat, do not listen to Darvlay. He is the head of a clandestine group of blood-thirsty Canadians craving for world domination through mind control at chess sites. Be afraid... be very afraid

I've read the Qu'raan numerous times, which is very similar to the Bible in terms of its story of creation. In fact it might even be identical, although I won’t say it is for fear of offending the purists.

I also have a solid understanding of the theory of evolution, so I'm not a complete dunce.

I've ‘endeared’ both sides of the coin as it were and I'm just looking for expert commentary as my interest has been rekindled. I have delved into these subjects before and have read a few books although admittedly few and admittedly a long time ago.

There is no such thing as an impartial book on Evolution vs. Creationism. There are books on Evolution and there are books that are wrong.

nah, it's not the same... try it, really; saying they are copies of each other is like saying italian football is good an... er... wait... bad example for you
