I am trying to help a friend out and need a little advice.
They have a their master phone socket in the bedroom but want to install broadband in the living room so requires an extension off the master.
Question is:-
1. Do I need a special copper 4/6core cable to do this or would standard phone wire do it?
2. Do I need to fit filters in both sockets?
3. They are also planing on installing Sky TV at a later date, would this extention in the living room accomodate it too??
Many thanks in advance.

Are they with BT?
Originally posted by mikelomIt is a BT master line, but I think they want to go for the triple package Sky supply, they do a wireless (hub/ router) which I think they may have in the bedroom but not too sure if sky would work off an extension? (as Sky TV needs a phone line for the interactive services)

The extension in the living room would be fine for both Broadband and Sky as long as you set up the filters correctly. They also use the same type of connection so if your extension/socket only has one port you'll need a splitter for it but I Sky should provide one for you when they install it.
