Point taken. However, while my usage of "Great Britain" was incorrect due to a mistake that many, many people make, dazza666's usage of "England" was not, I presume, a mistake.
well he does live their and scotland, n.i and i think wales as well do have their own parliaments which could choose to do whatever they want with regards to cannabis being legalized no matter what england decides to do.

Damn right! Amsterdam has been ruined by drugs tourism if you ask me. Lovely place, full of the scum of the earth going to get out of their heads! Travel around Holland though and it quickly becomes clear that having a coffee shop in your town doesn't turn it into a dump. Holland suffers from the legal situation of cannabis abroad (well, i think financially it benefits, tourists spend money after all...) A lot of countries in Europe are going to same way though, i've scored weed in most of the European cities i've visited if i bothered to look... We're only tough on it here in the UK because the US has such a hard on for drugs. We play along with all the US's stupidest ideas...

Scotland has no power over its drug policy, and I presume Wales and Northern Ireland are in the same boat.

😀 I love a sweeping statement! Mind you, I don't much care for things American... Your expression "a hard-on for drugs" made me chuckle!

Ik vond dit artikel, maar ik kan wat tijd vergen om het volledig te evalueren… http://snipurl.com/9jgpv

I'm sorry, i have nothing against Americans but when it comes to an objective assessment of facts i've never seen an official US agency manage even the slightest balance. The War on drugs has been a massive money spinner for the US for years, it's political and we all suffer as a result of it (IMO). Luckily this thread is about UK policy so we don't really need to go there...

Europe is slowly forming it's own consensus on things. Give it a decade and we'll see this issue taken out of the hands of local governments (ie UK, France, whatever...). Then we'll see how 'bad' this is. There has been a fantastical propaganda war against Cannabis for over a century, but it's based on bullsh;t so it can't last forever... Holland has suffered and does suffer problems through their stance on this substance, but these problems are a result of stupidity that comes from outside. I'd live there, i may yet do so...

Well-I can only speak for Scotland! 😛

However, I did find this article on the BBC website. On the plus side, it give an overview of the powers of the various parliaments, and seems to imply that the Welsh don't have power over drugs policy, and states that the Scots don't. On the down side, it's 10 years old...

will post again soon as to why we shud do this but seeing as most of you are clever and worldly people im sure you will understand the various, valid reasons for doing this.
I don't smoke it, but I say: "Why not make it legal?" In the UK and the USA as well, people are going to do it anyway. 😏

At least you're consistent! In the Uk we even go to the lengths of having scientists 'assess the risks'. When they come back and say "actually, there's really nothing wrong with this" our government does...nothing! There is only one reason for this, the U-S-A.
