Agreed, this was serious and disturbing post about how to prevent kitten being bitten by other cats. What advice do you give to the original poster - her cat nearly died.
Keep the cat inside, let it grow up some, then let it out.
I personally think it's insane to have cats roaming the neighborhood freely, (dogs, cars, catnappers selling to vivisection labs, God knows what else depending on where you live,) but it's your cat.
Note: I have two felines, both of whom are perfectly content living inside and ruling the household.
Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets, unless of course you view this as too restrictive for your pet as well. I mean, if it's cruel to prevent the poor things from going to roam freely, it's surely cruel to prevent it's natural instinct to mate heartily.
7 months is quite young, it's still basically a kitten, so maybe you could keep it inside a bit longer until it's more fully grown.
Aside from that, I'm not sure you can do a lot.
We have 3 cats, and they play-fight all the time, which I guess teaches them to be good fighters. However, this lot are brother and sisters so they are used to each other - if you introduce another cat they might fight for real, obviously not what you want...

most pet's just become like the owner,so mabey if you were a bit more staunch around her then she would also become the same.they develop a heirachy system with the neighbouring cats which you can help by spending time with her outside giving the other cats a scare.
my last cat tried attacking the neighbours dog and got bitten in the throat.a frie ...[text shortened]... wound clean with warm milk and cotton buds.she recovered to full health...hope yours does also.
