@ all citizen of the UK

I just read in an austrian newspaper that only 42% of all UK citizens want prince charles to become King of the UK ... his son William got 32 % ( a rise of 12 % in the last year) ...

So who do you prefer???

The monarchy has become an embarassment that should be quietly done away with once Queen Elizabeth II dies. But not being from England, I guess my opinion doesn't really matter for much.

I don't really care, but I think it would be amusing if someone opposed to the institution came to the throne. They could make a long speech about how stupid the job was and then abdicate. That'd REALLY mess up those silly flag-waving royalists 😏

Of course Charles should be King, he is next in line.
The only reason William is so polular is that he's the son of Diana.
The monarchy is not the same now they all live to be 80+ so their heirs are already old when they come to the throne.

BRITAIN! Whilst youre on the subject of wasteful taxes...what about the £billions and £billions England give to Scotland every year?..the Scottish want to run their country, but they couldn't even run a bath 😉 without our help.

monarchy is an embarassment, a waste of money, and an alround waste of time.
Succesion to the thrown should be restored to that of its hay-day, succesion through assasination..no more old monarchs.

England? england has no Government. Britain has a governmeant-it was the British taxpayers that gave money-twas not one of the scottich parliaments problems that you were (i think) reffering to-it was one of the british Governments.

Since the modern purpose of the monarchy seems to be to attract tourists (and perhaps do public relations work on behalf of the British people), I say give the crown to William because he's so darned handsome. Sex sells, after all. 😉

I agree, the monarchy more than pays for itself with the money brought into the country by tourists coming to see the Queen et al.

To correct peterh...money flows from Scotland to England. Who do you think would be the rightful owner of all those North Sea gas and oil fields if the two countries separated?

It is actually 2 questions:

1) Who if any, will the British choose to be there next monarch
2) Will the person chosen wish to rule over the British people

The smart money is I would say William and the next King who will then abdicate.
