Yeah, I'll go with that. Delivering a smothered mate is very satisfying, and if I feel my opponent has thoroughly outplayed me, I'll even let him have the satisfaction of smothering me.
Dive: After 8 years of playing chess I have come to realise that I prefer it when my opponent resigns.
This too has some merit; it is a sign of respect to one's opponent to resign a clearly lost game: it shows that one believes he can really bring the game to a conclusion.
That said, I do not resign a game I know to be lost if I think my opponent may not actually be able pull it off, for example, a difficult end game with at least some drawing chances.
