The Met Office has just issued an early warning for snow on Thursday morning. A copy of the text is attached.
"The snowfall is expected during the early hours of Thursday morning and there is, at this stage, there is considered to be a 60-70% risk of disruption in the London area for the rush hour on Thursday morning.
Accumulations 2 to 5 cm of snow are expected. Clearly the likely timing of the snowfall could lead to significant transport disruption. The worst of the weather should be over by early afternoon."
More details of the warning can be found on the website, <

Really interesting how differently things are seen in different areas.
Originally posted by KnightWulfeYou obviously misunderstand how things work in England. Regardless of the weather, there is a 100% chance of disruption of public transport services. However, there is a 60% chance of it snowing, so therefore there is a 60% of said public transport services blaming their shoddy pisss taking services on Ooooooh 'Severe weather'.

We live in a society that attempts to force people to be green, leave their cars at home, and use public transport. Measures used to enforce this are generally gradual increases on petrol duty, toll gates{watch this space} and fabulous cycle lane initiatives.
Whilst this all sounds very commendable, it seems at little absurd, that just 3 days after Manchester City Council introduced a scheme, whereby people driving into the city centre have to pay a £4 toll daily, that the main bus operator in the area announces bus service cuts.
As for cycle routes? Jesus! Some are just laughable, whereas others could only be described as death traps! 🙁

If I remember correctly, in Syracuse we called 5 cm of snow "summer."
People here up in the north always laugh about the chaos a bit of snow tends to create in Oslo. It's weird, because they probably get more snow in Oslo than we get here, so they should be at least as used to it.
HA! this is hilarious to me.
In Texas we shut down for a light layer of Ice in 30 F weather.
If it snowed they'd have to declare a state of emergency and the whole city would shut down for a week.
Used to live in Colorado so it always makes me laugh, but I dont mind getting the days off!
but it is rather funny how variant opinions of what is truly "bad" weather is depending on your locale.
hope your weather gets better Londoners. 🙂

Our water pipes freeze every night now and I live in an apartment complex. They told me to leave heaters running by the door entrance and inside my laundry room. Doesn't seem right that I should have to pay for two extra electric heaters to run just because the apartments are built w/o adequate insulation. 😠
