What is the difference between an americano and a filter coffee (aside from how they are made)? I'd say 3 times out of 4 I ask for a filter coffee and end up with an americano for the same price (which is cheaper than the americano price) as 'they've just put another pot on'. Am I really 'winning' here?

Americano is espresso with water. Filter coffee is....filter coffee.

Get a coffee pot for your house, set it up at night so it goes off before you wake.

Next, get a mug. You will pour coffee into the mug.

Next, just a single teaspoon of sugar. Do not put cream in this coffee. Do not put a heaping teaspoon of sugar. Just a level teaspoon of sugar and no more.

Grab your finest smoking jacket and retire to the study on the plush reading chair with a pipe.

Now enjoy the perfect coffee.

Yey but do they taste different? What's better? Is an americano tastier than a filter coffee? It's more expensive.

Wait a minute, are you suggesting the first thing I do in the morning when I wake is retire to the study with a coffee and a pipe? That actually sounds fantastic, great advice 🙂

I usually have a Latte or a Cappuccino when I'm on the roll and decaf at all other times.

Perfect coffee is so subjective as to be meaningless.

For you, black with sugar.

For me, milk (not cream, not "half and half" ), no sugar.
