@very-rusty saidYes. I get one if I haven't had any by mid-day.
It is going without the coffee for a few days that gives me a headache.

@drewnogal saidIt probably means we are both addicted to coffee. The way I look at it we could be addicted to much worse.

@very-rusty saidVery true. I avoid alcohol for months at a time because I’m sensitive to it as it makes me lethargic and low in mood the following day I can also develop a tic in my throat if I have too much caffein.

@drewnogal saidI haven't had a drink of alcohol since March 22, 1992 so I figure I replace one addiction with another. Only this one is a lot cheaper and I always know what I am doing! š I've never had the tic in my throat you are talking about though.

@very-rusty saidMust keep you flushing most of the morning.
I have two extra-large coffee at Macdonald's drive through every morning. I find if I go a few day without one I get a headache.
@drewnogal saidCaffeine is a strong drug, similar to methylphenidate (Ritalin). Stimulates the frontal lobes to inhibit a wandering mind and stay on task. What does it say about 21st century life that we need to be focused for so much of the time. Wandering minds are the stuff of creativity and imaginative tangents. Chess is a good metaphor for life. It seems to need the creativity as well as the focus in balance and harmony imo.

@handyandy saidActually Andy not as much as you might think, but then of course I am a little younger than you too! š

@very-rusty saidYou believe that younger kidneys don't work as well as older kidneys?
Actually Andy not as much as you might think, but then of course I am a little younger than you too!
You might be right. It's also true of younger brains, such as they are..
@ghost-of-a-duke saidLarge just means more water, he’s basically drinking a double espresso with half a litre of water which is perfectly fine.
That's too much caffeine in one hit. Try to stagger it throughout the day.
I very, very occasionally have a sweet black coffee when no tea available.
Probably only had 40 cups in my life!
My bad experience with caffeine was on a night out when I was the sober
driver. Usually I drank lime & soda but was looking for something different.
My friend who was drinking vodka & red bull suggested straight red-bull.
This was a long time ago when they were new to market. It was summer and
I was dancing for 3 hours. I must have had 6, 7 maybe 8.
Next morning ... wow! The worst headache ever, worse than a teenage hangover.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidWho doesn't? Oh yes you!!!!
That's true.
Who the heck drinks coffee from Mcdonalds?

Do they have Mcdonald's over there? š

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI made the horrible mistake of having a coffee from subway, free drink they say, next time I’ll just have the sandwich. I’ve actually had some decent decent coffee in McDonald’s around the world, can get a double espresso in some places, don’t think they do it here. Guess being a vegetarian the last time you were in a McDonald’s was many years ago. The food it garbage but sometimes you fancy some garbage. Mc aloo burger in India has been the best so far, great idea to open a McDonald’s in a place they don’t eat beef š
