@trev33 saidWhen it's really hot, I sometimes pop in for an icecream. š
I made the horrible mistake of having a coffee from subway, free drink they say, next time I’ll just have the sandwich. I’ve actually had some decent decent coffee in McDonald’s around the world, can get a double espresso in some places, don’t think they do it here. Guess being a vegetarian the last time you were in a McDonald’s was many years ago. The food it garbage but some ...[text shortened]... in India has been the best so far, great idea to open a McDonald’s in a place they don’t eat beef š
We really shouldn't be drinking more than 4 cups a day, so I try and ensure each one of those 4 coffees is a delight. (Filter coffee where possible). Invariably independent coffee houses provide the best options.
@trev33 saidI rarely if ever eat at McDonald's just my 2 X-large coffee's in the morning. Not so much I think it is garbage just try to stay away from the fast food crap.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI am not sure what 2 X-large Coffee's a day would average out in cups but it has to be at least 4! š

@very-rusty saidThe reason I advised staggering it throughout the day. (But if that's all you drink then fair enough).

@petewxyz saidInteresting as Methylphenidate can also cause tics in some kids who are prescribed it. Someone once told me that when people come down off speed they can grimace which sounds like a tic to me.
Caffeine is a strong drug, similar to methylphenidate (Ritalin). Stimulates the frontal lobes to inhibit a wandering mind and stay on task. What does it say about 21st century life that we need to be focused for so much of the time. Wandering minds are the stuff of creativity and imaginative tangents. Chess is a good metaphor for life. It seems to need the creativity as well as the focus in balance and harmony imo.
My body needs to be revved up a bit with coffee before exercising as I’m well past my prime. Otherwise it’s herbal teas, preferably green, lemon & ginger and camomile.
Chess is something I do when I sit down to eat š
@drewnogal saidA physio once adviced me to do a full five minutes of warm up for core muscles before running or long hikes. Primarily that was to get my core muscles working to offer my spine some protection as I slipped a disc years ago, but that amount of warm up raises your pulse and gets you more switched on as well. A friend of mine was still playing football at 39 following a similar approach but using palates exercises. I suppose caffeine is a short cut to getting your adrenaline going.

@petewxyz saidIf that is the case I really have my adrenaline going in the morning!

@drewnogal saidWatch not to get any crumbs or food particals on your keyboard as you may be looking at getting a new keyboard if you use a tower. I don't think it would be as big a problem on a laptop.

@very-rusty saidFortunately it’s an iPad that gets the occasional face wipe with a dish cloth, unlike myself ~ I got the corner of my mum’s handkerchief after she’d licked it.

@handyandy saidSeriously Andy, you really missed the point on that one!
When did drewnogal's mother wipe your face with her handkerchief?
I thought you were much smarter, I keep over estimating you.
