Stanford certainly came out to play.

They have a quarterback that's nearly unstoppable, a huge line, killer run attack, and the Hokies looked outsized and outgunned in the 2nd half.

Ah, but we could be talking about Auburn, also. The Ducks beat Stanford 52-31.

Helloooooooooo Auburn! 😉

Auburn is in the SEC, a football conference.

Virginia Tech lost to James Madison University. Need I say more?

The ducks better be ready to lose.

Ah yes, the SEC supremacy. 😴

We'll see next Monday; the PAC-10 plays some real football, too.😏

Auburn is Stanford times two. Size, speed, are two factors Ducks have not faces yet. Stanford certainly is big, but they are no Auburn! It should still be a good game indeed!

BTW guys, since whodey and I failed to pick the OU-Conn game can we substitute Delaware v. E. Wash from FSC to ven out our number of picks with y'all?

I pick Delware over EWash!

Yes, you're right. In fact, I feel sorry for my little inept Duckies that swindled their way into the NCG with chic gimmickry and stand no chance whatsoever against the behemoths from Auburn. We may as well just open the gates for Cam Newton and let all 7 feet and 400 pounds of him run through us, because he's going to anyway. After all, he's the biggest football player ever with a 40 of 3.65 seconds.

Also, the Ducks can't run or pass; they've sucked eggs all year on offense. And their coach is an unimaginative toad with no huevos at all.

Just hand the crystal trophy to the SEC again, I guess.

Dangit, where's my hemp chair? I want to be comfortable while I sip on chai tea at gametime, decked out in my tie-dyed game shirt.

I'll be serving tofu appetizers, btw.

Also baked potato chips with vegan dip. Mmmm, screams college football, don't it?

It's not a Duck insult. I am merely stating the obvious. Doesnot mean Ducks won't win. After all they did not get where they are by playing tiddlywinks. I'm just stating there's good reason for Auburn to be favored. No reason to take umbrage. Keep enjying your tofu treats and tie-dye an sip whatever you want. All I hope for is a good game, but I fear it may not be close.

Oregon has a good team, no doubt. Auburn's team is a little better.

The reason I think they are a little better is they beat the team that I believe was the best team in the nation, Alabama, and they did it after trailing 21-0.

Say what you like, but that may have been the most impressive comeback of any team in the nation.

Granted, any team can beat its opposition on a given day.

I just think Auburn will prevail this time.

No knock against Oregon, but they had better duck!! 😉😀

Whodey, whodey, whodey; oh ye, of little faith.

Don't count on that Auburn pick, either 😉

Say what you like; Alabama is not the best team in the nation - not this year.

Opinions predicated upon baseless notions are bound also to be baseless.

This is kind of like the Spirituality forum: The moment someone has to resort to "I believe" then that's the moment facts and rationality has permission to be excused.

Alabama is NOT the best team this year, Steve "Superior" and his Gamecocks proved that.

Talk is talk is talk spiritually or otherwise, until it comes to being on the playing field together. Lots of things can happen and do! Turnovers, (look at the game between Arkansas and OSU) injuries, etc.

For me, it's the roar of the crowd that makes it exciting. That feeling that your team did something great, and 80,000 people going all crazy at once.

That begs the question regarding whether you favor one or the other. As for badwater, he hurls about the "believe" as irrationality meme as if his support of the Ducks is somehow more rational. He supports the Ducks because he believs they will win. No amount of talk eliminates the need for actual play no the gridiron just as we saw last night. I am sure most people believed Arkansas would win! Was their "religion" dashed? This is what makes sports great. I'm sure the crowd believed Arkansas had it in the bag. Were they irrational or simply hoping that the odds meant a high power offense would prevail against a better defense. The palpable disappointment of dashed hopes was exciting. I picked OSU last night and had already chalked up another L in my column.

Ohio State saves the collective Big10 from embarrassment! Whale of a game indeed! I hope the remaining games are this good. However, after almost 35 bowls nfl seems dull and after OD'ing on college ball there's sure to be withdrawal symptoms once it's over!

Indeed!! Coach Tressel has now done something that Woody Hayes could not do and that is beat an SEC team in a major bowl. They are now 1-9 all time against the SEC. This is one game I am more than glad to take a loss in.

In fact, I am somewhat happy to have been wrong about Wisconsin winning. It was good for the soul seeing them lose and then watching one of their players cry like a baby after the game. Simply put, I don't care for their fans nor do I care much for how their coach runs up the score on teams that are already beaten.

All in all I think I had a pretty good notion as to what the Big Ten was going to do. You might say I was wrong about Ohio State and Wisconsin, but in reality these two games were toss ups that could have gone either way. One thing is for sure, and that is I called the Alabama match up verses Michigan state as being the biggest miss match of the bowl season. I wonder if I'll be given any bonus points for that? 😵

I really don't see how the Big Ten can be said to have been an embarrassemnt, even with an Ohio State loss. After all, they played a slew of SEC teams, not an easy task. In comparison, you had horrible Big 12 teams like Oklahoma play UCONN who was unranked. This is just an outrage. Why on earth are unranked teams playing in BCS games? In fact, I think Northwestern could have beaten UCONN with or without thier QB.

I will say this, however, and that is Ohio State has proven itself the cream of the crop in the Big Ten this year. In fact, I think after tonight after proving themselves against the SEC, if they survive the first 5 games next season without a loss and have all their players come back it might propel them to the NCG!!

Wouldn't that make marauder happy!! 😵

Any conference that loses five bowls is an embarrassment as is a former top ten team beating an unranked team only by 28 points. Wisconsin actually acquitted itself well against a superior team. MSU really was an embarrassment. As you well know I picked OSU to beat the Razorbacks. Alleged superior conferences have fared poorly. Stanford really showed it has a team able to play anyone. I feel that in the end the chips indeed fall where they should.

Are you game for picking the EWash vs Delaware game for the game we skipped?
