Commonly vitiated orthography

...by which I mean stuff you personally sometimes spell wrongly or mistype or have to think twice about, not lists of common errors taken from internet sites.

I have to think twice about independent (not independant)

panicked (just doesn't look right)

I used to think remuneration was spelt like that too.

I know the correct spelling, but I see the incorrect spelling in print so often that when I write it myself I get confused. It's as if bad spelling is contagious.

separate not seperate.
I used to get that wrong.
Easy way to remember is that when you separate something you are paring it.
