concord:symbol of capitolism greed and a waste of fuel.
although it is a great idea, jet really just is the wrong power source for concord.
dont worry guys, it'll be ack, better than ever, once the "next gen super fuels" are out. (oil was the next gen super fuel to steam/coal powered engines)

last I heard people in the UK were running deisel cars on used vedgeable fat from deep fat fryers. Unfortunatky, being in the engine business, without the necessary addtives I bet that this worked great for a few hundred miles but then their engines seized up. Done properly, with proper research, vedgtable oil could be a viable feul source.
But you're right that it is dirty. Cold fusion doesn't work, does it? Nice idea in principle but noone has got it going in practice. Maybe some day.
Hyrogen cells are what is being investigated now - burn hydrogen & what do you get as a off product ? Horrible water (yuck, never did like the stuff 😉 ). Give it another 10-20 years and it'll hopefully be working. Then all we have to worry about is th epolution cause in extracting the hydrogen in the first place.
Originally posted by belgianfreakThere are many companies out there investigating hydrogen power. Two come to mind. One proposes using NaBH4 and water. That will generate the H2 for the fuel cell. You then take your take full of borate/water back for regeneration. The only problem is, they use diborane to do that (B2H6). So, it is cost prohibitive. The other uses Na metal and water. But, they haven't figured out how to store the gas generated for use. In this process, you return your tank of NaOH for regeneration back to Na metal. But, this is an energy intensive process, which again does not help cost.
