Hey!, my chest is not puffed out at all because my team did not do anything - lost in 1st round (bruins)
But I know nothing about hockey...? please! Stees can address this too:

Q: What NHL team did goalie, Tony Esposito start out with?

I get the best of them with that question 🙂
@Earl,

That is an easy one Tony Esposito started his career with the Montreal Canadians, I been a fan since I was 6 years old. You got to pick one tougher than that. 1968-1969 Canadians and won a cup. He is known of course for playing with the Chicago Black Hawks for 15 years after that!!! OH yes, he was also part of the 72 summit series against the Russians. Remember Paul Henderson's winning goal??? 😉

Well you didn't seem to know about all the Canadians and Europeans in the two Teams playing for the Cup. Carolina had a lot of tough loses before they finally made it.

I believe they will have a much tougher time with the experience of the Golden Knights. They are big strong and fast and hungry for a cup!!!!

Good job, man.
Now, Tony was traded before winter. But before he was traded, the Bruins had a game in the forum
with Tony in the net. The Bruins won 1-0. guess who got the goal for Boston? (It's obvious)

Expansion began in 1967 I believe with 6 more teams added, couldn't keep track of the players anymore. It may have been his brother Phil that scored on him... 😉

Did you know his brother Phil played for the Boston Bruins? I believe he (Tony) only played a few games with Montreal but was there for the win for the cup. Of course he is in the Hockey Hall of Fame like his brother Phil. I believe the game ended 2-2 they had draws back in those days!!! You may be talking about another game possibly.

I once knew all the names for the 6 teams which was all there were back in those days.

I, for one, take solice in mentioning to my Toronto Maple Leafs friends, that we, the Habs made it to the semis and they didn’t even get into the playoffs. I will take a page from their book and say, “Hey, there’s always next year”.🤔😉😁
Don't the leafs say that every year? I think that the habs have a great chance if they keep the core players on that young talented Team!!! Dobes kept them in it and always gave them a chance and he is only going to get better. I hope they can keep him. Lots of teams are going to be going after those young players and as we know the U.S. based Teams have more money to offer.

Indeed, he is in the hockey hall of fame, and was a big part of Canada winning the summit series, Where is he from do you know that?

HINT: Both Phil and Tony were from Canada, all the good players are!!! 🙂 The U.S. is starting to get some stars that will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame too. They have gotten much better over the years. I believe they already have some in the Hall of fame. More to come of course. Todays players are bigger and stronger and more skilled.

Good enough spelling as was his brother Tony! I know what you meant.

I use to love watching Boston and Chicago play, brother against brother. They both hated to lose. I Believe Boston had the better team at that time. The big bad Bruins!!! A very tough time gave Montreal some good battle but always found a way to lose.

I will never forget the game one of the Montreal trainers noticed a illegal stick and called them on it and Montreal scored on the power play, in a Play off game. I believe Grapes, (Don Cherry) was the coach at the time..

that goes way back, but you are right. the bruins always found a way to lose.

I also remember "too many men on the ice" that caused a power play goal giving habs the win.

It was all montreal in those days

Even when Boston did have the better Team and there were years they did, they would find a way to lose.

All those players though for Montreal are in the hockey hall of fame, and many of the Bruins are also in the hockey hall of fame. For quite a few years they were the two teams to beat.

I agree. The best regular season the Bruins ever had, they had to play Habs, who finished 4th, in the first round.

Ken Dryden.

Oh well. Wait til next year (they did win the next year)

The Habs played the Blackkhawks in the finals. Game 7. the score was tied, they were changing on the fly,
A montreal player shot from the red line just to get rid of the puck, and scored on tony o!!
that produced the final score, Habs won it.

was that player Jacque Lamaire? not sure

Yes, that player was indeed Jacques Lemaire. He scored the famous goal on May 18, 1971, in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks.

I knew it was in early 70's but had to look up the exact date, my memory isn't so great anymore. I once won a trivia on Montreal Canadians games. You know we haven't won a cup since 1993. 33 years ago now, at least it isn't 1967 that has the smart for the Maple leaf faithful.

I saw Montreal win a lot of cups in the 60's and 70's those were their best years in my opinion. I believe they still lead with 24 Stanley Cups which will be hard to catch, although they said Gretzky's scoring record would never beaten and it happened. Gretzky himself said someone would come along and beat it and he hope he lived to see it and he did.
