Good clue GB. But it had to include the 'indicator'. Thats a hint in the clue that tells us the solution is an anagram.

Better would have been " Remote [b]chance
( the anagram indicator ) of seeing the comet".

get it?

Yes. Why haven't you launched this category of thread long ago? Did you appreciate my non-clue

clue negating 'weeping'? Merry Christmas. Time to hang up my stocking and put out some cookies.

Nite...

Well, it probably belongs in 'posers and puzzles' and I didn't think anyone would be interested.

I've been trying to get the hang of these things for years, without any success. I figure it's either some combination of words like WON and TEST, or an anagram of RESIGNED without the E. Either way it would be 7 letters. Can we have a clue please?

It is seven letters and you need to dissect the clue. Take nothing literally.

"After" means whatever the next part is ('success in the examination'😉, "I have " follows. Resigned is the 'hit' prompt. That means the solution is a word that describes 'resigned'.

Incorrect. You're focusing on the literal again GB. Whilst the solution does mean 'resigned' you have to interpret the other elements of the clue to get that word. That's the reward.

I've been chewing on this for a while, and worked my way through pass marks and credits, stepping down, and some form of possession, but no light has gone on in my head. Please put me out of my misery, at least I'm trying and not just trolling like the rest. 🙁
