My wife is looking for a job at the moment, and she recently came across an advert for a company wanting writers with a postgraduate qualification, which suits her fine. However, 5 minutes of research later she discovered that the company writes your essays/dissertations for you, so long as you pay them enough. Now, although neither of us would ever employ such a company, and although it is (apparently) entirely legal, is it moral to work for them?

Originally posted by SwlabrI wish I could be less trite. But, when all is said and done, that's a decision that you and your wife would have to make. Whether or not anyone here (or wherever else you might ask) considers it moral or amoral, your wife is going to have to decide if it conflicts with her own personal morals.

Having said that, I would have no problem working there if the function was to take what someone has originally written and spruce it up. After all, there are plenty of bright people who have trouble articulating their ideas at the highest standard, and I would consider it roughly analgous to someone wanting help in presenting a resume. However, if this company is offering the service of actually producing the paper and its attendant research from scratch, I might not do it for any amount of money (well, maybe seven figures a year, if I'm going to be totally honest).
