...and he buried himself in a glass coffin in an open pit in front of an office building in New York City where passers by could view him, 24 hours a day.

Just the 2 examples of many I could think of that prove how of an arrogant basket he is, big headed and an attention seeker.

Also even if Blaine had held his breath for more than the 9 minutes of the current record he would be invalidated by the fact that he was breathing oxygen not air. The record for holding one's breath when breathing oxygen is close to 15 minutes.
How do you know it was O2? I think if he was breathing pure oxy he would have gotten oxygenosis, it had to be just air IMNSHO.

Don't deep sea divers mix oxygen and nitrogen or something? Anyway what ever he was breathing or not breathing. In my opinion being under water for a week having your hands and feet rotting and liver damage plus holding your breath while trying an escape chains for the time he did in that condition is incredible even if he didn't manage to break the world record. Having said that, I do know a football player whose heart and breathing stopped for fifteen minutes while playing in a football game. And he made a full recovery with no lasting brain or heart problems. Brought on by an Asama attack. Happened in Arkansas.

Could it not have been air with an elevated proportion of oxygen? Or switched to pure oxygen slightly before the escape attempt?
